| The Midwest Regional Fleadh Cheoil will
be hosted right here in Detroit on Saturday, May 1, 1999. More information
about the fleadh is now
available on our web site. There is directions to the fleadh, contest rules
and entry fee information. We will have an on-line entry form available
soon. Copies of the rules and will be available for downloading as will
the entry form. The event will be held at the Airport Doubletree Hotel. This competition is one of two held in North America which qualifies first and second place winners to compete in the All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil na h'Eireann held this year in Eniscorthy in late August. We will be needing lots of help for this endeavor and will appreciate any help you can provide.  Liz
Carroll Concert Announced
All-Ireland fiddle champion, Liz Carroll and All-Ireland whistle and flute champion Larry Nugent a native of County Fermanagh, accompanied on Jim Dewan on guitar will be performing Sunday, March 14th at 6pm at the Hellenic Center. They will be accompanied by local World Champion dancers, Mike Belvitch and Pat Quinn. Cost is $12, food will be available, cash bar.The Hellenic Center is 36375 Joy Road., E. of Newburgin Westland. If there are links that you feel we should post, send your suggestions to the Webmaster (Terence McKinney) Classes Continue This has certainly been a very busy winter, weather nonwithstanding. Our classes are going well on Thursday nights at the White Heather Club. We offer Irish language, set dancing, tin whistle, uilleann pipe, concertina, flute, and fiddle lessons to adults and children. We are very proud of the parent/child pairs that are involved in the classes. The Comhaltas Tour concert was also very successful. The group performed magnificently to a sold out crowd at the Ark. We also were most fortunate to be able to host the group for their first “day off” which gave us an opportunity to really get to know the artists. We would like to thank the host families for their generous hospitality. The tour members left Detroit with many fine memories of their stay with us. Election of Officers Our AGM was held Thursday, October 29th 1998 at the White Heather Club in Ferndale. See who was elected to the various offices. Applications are available for attending the North American CCE Convention which will be held this year in Parsippany New Jersey, April 9-11, 1999 . Congratulations
