| Sunday Sesiún at Gaelic League, February 20th, 2000 This particular cold sunday in February found a great group of musicians at the Gaelic League in Detroit. All are welcome and encouraged to play, from beginner to not-so beginner. There was a Irish pizza break and then the tunes continued, supercharged no doubt by the pepperoni. There were musicians coming and going and some are not in the pics (sorry). Come down any Sunday at 7 p.m. or call 313-963-8895 if you have any questions.
For those of you who don't know, the Gaelic Laegue and Irish American Club has been a cornerstone for immigrants from Ireland and Irish-Americans over the last 80 years in Detroit. It is located down the road from the (soon to be extinct), Tiger Stadium on Michigan Avenue and is also where the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade ends. Many great musicians have come through the League over the years, including the Comhaltas touring group and it continues to support Irish music and culture. Irish Language and tin whistle is on Wednesdays, Ceili dancing on Fridays and usually Irish ballad music on the weekends. There is also a radio show every Sunday 1:30-3p.m. on WNZK 690AM. Call 313-96-IRISH for info about the show.
