Jimmy CoyleJimmy Coyle was born in Knocknabower, a few miles from Belmullet, County Mayo. He started playing the melodeon at 14 years old and later went on to the two row accordion. His brother, Sean, in Ireland also plays the accordion and other members of the family all loved Irish music and were well known as good singers.

Before immigrating to Chicago, he spent several years in London back in the 1950's and met some of the great players, such as Brendan Bulger, Roger Sherlock, and many more. Being a member of the I.M.A. since 1956 as Vice Chairman and Chairman for 14 years.

Jimmy CoyleThrough music, he met more great players in Chicago, namely, Joe & Seamus Cooley, Kevin Keegan, John McGreevy, Jim & Eleanor Neary. He also played with his good friends, Martin Byrne, Tom Masterson, Kevin Henry, Jack Denihan, Frank Thornton Sr., and Joe O'Shea, the current president of the I.M.A.
