Bertie McMahonThe greatest banjo player ever in Chicago was Bert McMahon.

This Galway man came from a large family, all musicians. His first instrument was the harmonica and he became an expert by the age of nine. He was as much an expert on other instruments in the mandolin and cittern family. This colorful man also taught Kieran Hanrahan how to play the banjo.
