Sean Fallon

Sean Fallon playing concertinaSean Fallon has the rare qualities of being a musician, craftsman, teacher, tea master and accountant! Sean plays concertina and teaches the Irish language classes on the Thursday night classes along with his wife, Judy who has taught fiddle at the Branch for years.

The Fallon household have been stalwarts of the Detroit Comhaltas Branch and Sean has served as the Detroit Branch treasurer for uncountable years.

Sean was the co-chair of the Midwest Regional Fleadh for four years during which time Detroit became the host for the Midwest Fleadh for the first time since the 1970's. The Detroit Fleadheanna were very successful in no small part to Sean's organizational skills and dedication.

As a craftsman, Sean has made many custom concertina, uilleann pipe cases and even fabricated a harp case the size of a Hummer. Sean has made instrument repairs and has even been rumored trying his hand at uilleann pipe reeds.

The Fallons have been a host for many CCÉ guests from out of town and a great supporter of the Comhaltas tours from Ireland for many years.

Sean has demonstrated a comittment and dedication over many years in promoting Irish traditional music and language. He transparently sees to numerous, seemingly mundane details that make it possible for people to have a place to show up to learn a few tunes, dance a few steps or have cupla focal Gaeilge.

Sean has also served as Midwest Regional Secretary and the Midwest Treasurer until this year.

The Dertoit Branch of Comhaltas is proud to honor Sean Fallon in the CCÉ Midwest Region Irish Music Hall of Fame.
